The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering organized an awareness workshop entitled "Drugs and their Negative Effects on Humans and Society" on Wednesday, 4/12/2024. The workshop was presented by Dr. Alia Abdul-Ridha Abbas, a lecturer in the department, and Assistant Director Sajida Abdul-Ridha Thabet from the Ministry of Health / Health Insurance Authority. The workshop addressed the concept of drugs from the social and health perspectives, and discussed the factors and causes leading to drug abuse and smuggling. In conclusion, the workshop included a set of recommendations that emphasized the government’s role in securing borders and preventing the entry of drugs to eliminate the spread of this phenomenon. The recommendations also stressed the importance of the family’s role in raising their children, and the role of educational institutions in spreading awareness through educational seminars. In addition, the role of tribes in promoting the values ​​of cooperation and social responsibility was highlighted, due to their great impact on the individual and society.
