Master Thesis Discussion (Reem Hashim Ahmad)
|
A graduate student in the Control and Systems Engineering Department (Reem Hashim Ahmad) received a master's degree in Computers Engineering after discussing her thesis entitled "Implementation Soft Defined Radio Based Communication Network". The discussion was held on Thursday, the 16th of May 2019 in the Discussion Hall (no. 9). The examination committee consisted of: 1- Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Nasser Hussein \ Chairman. 2- Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ibraheem Abdulkareem \ Member. 3- Lect. Dr. Ahmed Mudheher Hasan \ Member. 4- Asst. Prof. Dr. Ekhlas Kadhum Hamza \ Member and Supervisor. Wireless communications are growing exponentially, and new standards are being applied at a high pace. The development of radars is costly and time-consuming due to redundancy design of the mask cost. Moreover, as radio standards become increasingly complex, these costs are increasing. This defends a program-specific radio (SDR) approach, where one piece of flexible radios is reused for different applications and standards, downloadable and under program control. As a result, this research focuses on the implementation of a digital 16QAM SDR transmitter and receiver system based on IEEE 802.11.a. The research provides a design methodology consisting of three phases (or goals). In the first phase, 16 QAM transmitters and receivers were implemented using 16 quadrature formation techniques. The second stage was the design of a random bit generator using single-dimensional chaotic schemes (logistic map) by converting the equation to the system generator design. The third phase was to verify the performance of the proposed system by observing the bit error rate using the Adaptive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel, changing the signal-to-noise ratio, and the use of 1 W of power. The system was implemented using MATLAB / Simulink 2011a and the system generator. The simulation results show that the proposed transceiver and receiver system has better performance based on AWGN channel and values of E_b ranged between 0 and 10 dB. For the system, the BER was improved to be between 10-2 and 10-3. However, the transceiver and receiver system provided better performance than the theoretical result for 1000 seconds. On this occasion, we congratulate the student (Reem Hashim Ahmed) and wish her all the success.

Under the direct supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Azad Raheem Kareem, the head of the department, along with the scientific and administrative assistants, the final examination for the academic year 2018-2019 started on Sunday the 26th of May 2019 for the students of the undergraduate studies (morning and evening studies). In this regard, the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sami Aboalnoon Ajeel, visited the department to check the students' needs and the examination atmosphere inside the exam halls. During his visit, the Vice Chancellor praised the department efforts in preparing an appropriate examination environment. On this occasion, we wish our dear student all the success.

The master students in the courses level of the Control and Systems Engineering Department took the English language test for the second semester successfully. The students used an electronic system to submit their answers. The electronic system, which was prepared by the University of Technology, was mounted in the Network Laboratory inside the department. The students who participated in the exam were listed in three master degree programs (Computer Control, Computer, and Mechatronics). The Head of the Department (Asst. Prof. Dr. Azad Raheem Kareem) and Assistant Head of the Department for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies (Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Yousuf Hassan) attended the test to ensure that the test will go smoothly. The test was supervised by the technical committee of the Information Technology Center to ensure the smooth running of the exam. We pray God for our dear students to achieve success and for more scientific contribution in their educational process.
