 The Control and Systems Engineering Department Organized a Scientific Visit to the Department of Operation and Control of the Ministry of Electricity

 The Control and Systems Engineering Department Organized a Scientific Visit to the Department of Operation and Control of the Ministry of Electricity on Thursday the 15th of March 2019. This department is located at Al-Amin neighborhood south of Baghdad. The students of the third stage of the Computers Engineering branch along with several academic staff members participated in this scientific visit under the supervision of (Lect. Seerwan Waleed, Lect. Dr. Ali Majeed, Asst. Lect. Mohammed Khazaal, Lect. Dr. Ahmed Raoof, Asst. Lect. Marwa Fadhel, and Asst. Lect. Amjad Falih). The visit included an introduction to the work performed by the system and an introduction to the main divisions (the Communication Division, the Operation and Control Division, and the Control and Command Center), where the engineers supervising these divisions clarified the main task of each of the three divisions of the system. Moreover, the work of the modern SCADA, which is considered the main part in the system, was also explained by controlling the distribution of loads and dealing with the obstacles that accompany the work of this system.

  

  

 The Control and Systems Engineering Department Organized a Workshop about the Course System

  The Control and Systems Engineering Department Organized a Workshop about the Course System on Wednesday the 20th of March 2019 in the Conference Hall of the department under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Yousif Hassan the department head assistant for scientific affairs and graduate studies who explained the sections included in the course system guide issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Moreover, several examples were given about numbering the halls, the student's university number, the organization of student forms for addition and withdrawal, and the scoring record. In addition, some examples and successful experiences in this field were presented, such as the experience of the course system at Al-Basra University, College of Science as a pioneer in this field. The department head assistant for administrative affairs and the academic staff members along with the staff of the examination, the documents, the registration, and the coordination committees in the department attended this workshop.

  

  

 The Control and Systems Engineering Department Organized a Workshop Entitled "Basic Concepts of Microprocessors"

   The Control and Systems Engineering Department organized a two-day workshop on Wednesday the 13th of March 2019 about the basic concepts of microprocessors, the main components of the computer, the interface between the computer and the microprocessor, and the synchronization mechanism among the operations performed inside and outside the microprocessor. Moreover, other topics were discussed in this workshop including size and type of the used data and their representation in different numerical systems, fundamentals of programming by variant-level languages, and size and task of registers inside the microprocessors. This workshop was organized at the Microprocessors laboratory, two hours per day, under the supervision of Lect. Dr. Ahmed Mudher Hasan and Lect. Yamama A. Shafeek.

  

  

 The Control and Systems Engineering Department Organized a Voluntary Campaign for the Afforestation of the Department Gardens

     As one of the activities of the Control and Systems Engineering Department, a voluntary campaign for the afforestation of the department gardens was carried out by the Voluntary Work Committee on Monday the 18th of March 2019. This campaign also aims at improving the students of the department in the voluntary work field and making their surroundings more beautiful. In this regard, 40 students volunteered in the implantation of various types of flowers in the department gardens in an atmosphere predominated by a collective, cooperative, and voluntary work.

A Cultural Visit to the Martyr Monument

 A Cultural Visit to the Martyr Monument

     The control and systems engineering department arranged a cultural visit to the martyr monument for the fourth stage students (all branches) as well as the third stage students (the mechatronics branch). With the participation of 70 students, this visit was arranged on the 14 th of March 2019 under the supervision of the following teaching staff members (Asst. Prof. Dr. Hazim Ibraheem Ali, Asst. Prof. Shaimaa Mahmood Mahdi, Dr. Taghreed Mohmmed Ridha, Lecturer Akdas Safaa AlDeen, Asst. Lecturer Mazin Nageeb Ajaweed, Mr. Omar Farhan and Miss Rasha Basil).

    The visit included a description of the milestones of the monument, which is considered as an important cultural location in Baghdad. The monument was designed by the artist Ismael Fatah al Turk and the architect Saman Kamal Asad. Moreover, the artist Khalid al Rahal along with several fine arts students contributed in implementing the monument. This monument was practically implemented by Mitsubishi, which is a Japanese company, in the early 1980s.

    This monument symbolizes all the Iraqi martyrs for all ages, where the monument museum contains some of the martyr stuffs as well as their names.

   The monument, which was uniquely designed, consists of a divided Abbasi cupola and inside it there is an Iraqi flag wrapped around the statue of the Iraqi martyr located next to a spring to represent the life, this specific area has a continues breeze to add a touch of reverence. By looking to the monument from the sideways you can see that the statue spins around as a visual deceiving. The manager of the place welcomed the staff and the students and he discussed the importance of such visits with all the educational institutions. The visit supervisors thanked the management staff of the monument for their efforts and for all the facilitations that were provided to make this visit a successful one.
