The Control and Systems Engineering Department Holds its Eighth Scientific Exhibition for Robotics and Manufactured Devices

On Tuesday, 10/5/2022, the Control and Systems Engineering Department held the comprehensive scientific exhibition for robotics and manufactured devices for the eighth year in a row. The exhibition was held by students and academic staff members of the department, with a large number of participations and products. The exhibition was attended by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies (Prof. Dr. Haider Abed Dhahad), a number of heads of departments, directors of centers, and members of the university. The exhibition was completed under the direct supervision of the Head of the Department (Asst. Prof. Dr. Azad Raheem Kareem). This exhibition is considered a major scientific activity adopted by the department every year, specifically at the end of the academic year, to display the devices and robots that have been manufactured inside the department and by its students and academic staff members. These devices were built starting from the beginning of the academic year and they are based on scientific ideas and applications at the same time. Some of these devices are graduation projects for undergraduate students, and the other devices are for postgraduate students and the academic staff members. The exhibition included scientific and applied products directed towards serving the community and our beloved Iraq.

The Control and Systems Engineering Department Holds Seminars for Postgraduate Students

On May 29, 2022, the Control and Systems Engineering Department held the second round of seminars as part of the department’s scientific activities to discuss the projects of graduate students in the research stage (Master’s stage) with a specialization in Control, Computers, and Mechatronics Engineering. These seminars were for students who passed the first and the second rounds of examinations. The seminars were held over a period of four days, in the discussion room in the department, Hall No. (9), for the purpose of identifying the accomplished research projects of graduate students, providing advice and guidance to students, developing the presentation method, defending the research project, and achieving scientific benefit. Senior officers, the heads of branches, and a group of professors of the department attended these seminars.

The university holds a festival for orphaned children

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Ghabban, and under the supervision of the head of the Control and Systems Engineering Department, Dr. Azad Raheem, the esteemed, and on the occasion of the International Day for the Protection of Children, a festival for orphaned children was held at the headquarters of the Cooperation Charitable Society, in cooperation between the Control and Systems Engineering Department, the Student Activities Department, and the (Al-Iraqiya here) team, with the participation of students of the University of Technology, where the festival aimed to provide material and moral support to 80 children, coinciding with the International Day for Child Protection. The festival’s program included a variety of cultural and recreational activities, including giving an awareness lecture on individual behavior and traffic instructions to preserve people on the street, which was presented by the General Traffic Directorate, delivered by human rights officer Haider Shaker and Major Saja Al-Abayji) as well as the establishment of (sports competitions for children led by women from (Al-Iraqiya here) and also a party for children prepared and presented by university students. The children expressed their great joy at this initiative and expressed their thanks and gratitude to those in charge of it, as their arms were filled with the love they desperately need after fate deprived them of their families. The festival concluded with the distribution of medals to the competing teams by the head of the Control and Systems Engineering Department and the Head of the Student Activities Department at the University of Technology, as well as the distribution of gifts that contained toys, clothes and the most important needs of children, and then everyone was presented and participated in the lunch. We wish the children of Iraq safety and happiness always, and there will be many such activities within the university's plans towards serving the community, God willing.

Students applying for postgraduate studies at the Control and Systems Engineering Department take the competitive examination

The students applying for the postgraduate studies (M.Sc. Study in Control, Computer, and Mechatronics) and (Ph.D. Study in Control) took the competitive examination on Thursday 19-5-2022.The competitive examination was inspected by the Head of the Department (Asst. Prof. Dr. Azad Raheem Kareem), the Assistant Head of the Department for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies (Prof. Dr. Muhammad Youssef Hassan) and the Assistant Head of the Department for Administrative Affairs (Prof. Dr. Hazem Ibrahim Ali) who praised the efforts made by the Competitive Examination Committee to facilitate the exam process, provide a comfortable atmosphere for the exam performance, and the application of health and safety procedures. Master’s Viva of the student (Mohamed Ibrahim Perbek)

The master's thesis of the student (Mohamed Ibrahim Perbek) specialized in computer engineering, was discussed on Thursday, 12 May 2022, at Hall 9 in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering. His research was entitled:

(Design and Implementation of Optimized ANFIS Controller for Internet Router) The discussion committee consisted of:

1. Dr. Mu'ayyad Sadiq Kroc / Chairman.

2. Dr. Iyad Qasim Hussein / Member.

3. Dr. Ali Majid Mahmoud / Member.

4. Dr. Ahmed Alaa Akla/Member

Network management and control is a complex challenge requiring the use of intelligent and reliable control methods to support the router. AQM active queue management procedures have been implemented to successfully assist tCP congestion management function in all circumstances. To provide effective congestion management in TCP/IP networks, we offer a fuzzy like-PID control mechanism that uses blurry logic because it has proven to be effective in regulating non-linear systems, thus enabling the controller to BHFLC and GAPSO-ANFIS to obtain good results in non-linear systems and their strong ability to adapt to the length of the queue despite the application of many different experiences to show the power of the intelligent controller. The discussion was attended by the Deputy Head of the Department for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies (Dr. Mohammed Yusuf Hassan). On this occasion we congratulate the student (Mohammed Ibrahim Perbek) and wish him continued success.
